EMA AcciProtect AD&D (Accidental Death & Dismemberment) Review
Today, we’re going to review the EMA AcciProtect AD&D insurance. It’s an accidental death and dismemberment policy. It’ll pay your beneficiaries if you die resulting from an accident. Or it’ll pay you some or all of the benefits if you lose specific limbs or senses.
It’s an extra policy that you can get through EMA or Emergency Management Alliance. Their main coverage is their EMA Value 20 Term Life Insurance.
Read the EMA Value 20 review here.
One of the main reasons we like the ease of this policy is the quick online application, and it’s insured through an A++ rated company.
For the accidental death policy, choose the EMA AcciProtect option. When you go to enroll, you’ll see dropdowns to choose your benefits.

Exclusions
Every insurance policy has exclusions. We believe it’s important to know the fine print in your policy when making a decision on which insurance fits you best.
- Sickness, disease, or myocardial infarction
- Suicide
- Intentionally self-inflicted injuries
- War
- Accidents while in the armed forces of any country

Family Coverage Options
You can also get coverage for your spouse (or domestic partner) and any children. EMA’s definition of children includes:
- Natural children
- Stepchildren
- Adopted children
- Foster children
If you choose family coverage, it will protect your children until they reach age 20 or up to age 26 if they’re full-time students.
Here’s the family coverage:
- Spouse with no child(ren): 50% of the member amount
- Spouse with Child(ren): 40% of the member amount
- Child(ren) with spouse: 10% of the member amount
- Child(ren) with no spouse: 15% of the member amount
To clarify, children with no spouse means you (the member) are not married. The child’s martial status is immaterial here.

Why Might Someone Choose an Accidental Death & Dismemberment Policy?
AD&D provides additional financial protection in the event that life happens.
Motor vehicle accidents are the 4th leading cause of death in the United States.
In 2012, there were 127,000 unintentional injury-related deaths in the US.
An AD&D policy adds extra coverage on top of regular life insurance. Alternatively, for people with disqualifying health conditions for regular life insurance, AD&D may be the only coverage available. Although it’s also wise to look into guaranteed issue life insurance in that case, too.
The additional coverage can help cover final expenses, loss of income, and even medical bills and home renovations if accessibility needs change.
